out of work Roquebleu Saturday, December 18

Proceedings of the exit of the cave ROQUEBLEU :

Editor of the record: Patrick Cabrol.

Participants: Patrick Cabrol - DREAL.

Alain FAURE - SC AUDE.

Denis Matarini - SCMNE

Purpose of release: rehabilitation

Work Completed:

Ascent Hall of Shale:

We brought the new scale of two meters at the foot of the rise of the Hall of shale. (Photos 1, 5, 6) It was fixed to the floor with a bracket, bolt in calcite, and its top with another square, with stud in the rock. It does not move at all.

We finished the installation of the Lifeline (new string), which starts from the bottom, and arrives at the summit (photo 7). We removed the old rope that was as good calva "age out"!!

Room Shale:

We ended up tagging the entry of the Hall of shale, and have placed a second U-iron on the last little "climb", especially important for the descent.

For the release of the Hall of Shale (descent to the flap), we added a string temporary, pending the installation of a new rope, the PPE standard. We've added some studs, and as a final iron U in the vertical passage.

We have lunch at the Hall of shale.

After the flap:

We redid all markup from the output of the flap, until the transition in castings and white drapery. At last 10 meters, we had no pickets markup rather short, we put longer, while waiting for the right size.

We redid the moorings of the rise in the Gallery of Trees in Clay. It was urgent, because the rope was rubbing up and she was in very bad shape at that point. Again we had a good calva "ageless." We cut the tip dangerous, and placed this rope until a new rope as soon as possible.

We placed an iron U additional in the path of flows and white draperies, to cling more to the rise in the concretions. This is where we stopped our work for that day.

We have revealed a complete set of plastic and "carpet" variety. A real bullet to shoot!!
Thanks Alain.

Conclusion:

Since the drapes down and cast white located before the Gallery Room, it remains to be done the following work:

In wells entries must to steel studs to replace the bolts that date from the early explorations. We must add one or two U-irons, instead of the second scale (see on-site assembly). We must bring down the big cracked block which is located above the block that has been dynamited, allowing patency standing (1 / 2 hours to 3 / 4 hours of work).

Just before the climb to the Hall of shale, must finish the marking on the left side of the gallery. We must add two U-irons before the climb.

From the output of the Hall of Shale , it remains to put new strings, wherever there is string of early exploration, who have rendered loyal service, but does have no place here: down the hall toward the flap of shale, clay trees to climb, and flowstone draperies and white cast before (before the Gallery Room). There will no doubt others I have not seen in the cavity. These changes are urgent and priority.

After the Hall of shale, we used in several places, stainless steel quick links to 10 mm, because we had more links in 8 mm. It would have to buy a score, and keep the 10 mm, for fasteners wellhead, in the Trou de la Vigne, when we ask new String (command DREAL, I'll repeat for Denis).

Similarly, you have to buy some twenty steel plates because we have none. Today, we have stainless steel studs 27 of a total of 100 moorings and 7 complete (steel studs + platelets). This should be very fair to all finish at Roquebleu, regarding the studs.

It will intersect the stakes markings because they are too long. We have all emerged. The stakes are 30 cm for sand, or anything that is friable, but for the "hard", where calcite rock, you have stakes of 20 cm, which fit better into the landscape. In Lauzin, we have stakes of 30 cm, which are well adapted to the sizes of the galleries, which is not the case Roquebleu.

I think that to make all this work and thus closing the site until the change in casting and white draperies, we have for half a working day (3 hours) the other half day will be used to finish all work at least until the gallery Sand, except below (crossroads to Zubaida and Volcanoes).

There should be a working day, to do everything (lighting, changing strings, iron U. ..), the intersection between the previous and Zoubida one side, and Volcanoes of the other. It is important to do quickly, because these are the places most frequented by foreign clubs.

In two games a day (maximum two and a half), all work to be done from the entrance to the Volcanoes Zoubida and should be completely finished. This will already be a first major step made for the protection, and also for security in the cavity, because today it wrong.

We have a lot of plastic and "carpet" at various shows, full of water and so heavy!.

The effect of the passage and the work done with Rotary members can clearly see it was a day largely beneficial to progress. The ideal would be to work at least four people together, because of transportation equipment (drills, rods markup, U iron, ropes, food, etc. ....)

I suggest that if an output inter-club took place before the end of the above work, chaperones could take Small punch (Hitachi), which is the lightest, the mooring rope and steel, to fit in nine crossings to be changed: to climb volcanoes and / or Zoubida, as appropriate.

I would this work in January, if I help and time.

Group visitors

Lagrenée Dominique, Alexis BENAZET, Jerome RICCI, Sebastien Pénicaut, Thierry Alibert, Michel CHANTRE.

Duration: 5 hours .

Accomplishments: The team

visitors snack before going down, they have no plans to eat it.
For us, it will be later during the visit.
We enter the cavity to 11 hours.
I note in passing the good results of the last shot.
We first stop in the Hall of shale, and enjoy the last markup to the aragonite.
The team then goes to the Trees of Clay.
Descent of the Hall of Sands, to see the blades of marbles and pebbles, then visit the Hall of Baby Sitting. Routing to the quiet
Zoubida. Nobody makes pictures, he is barely 13:30. Dominique
who already knows a bit, asking us to lead them if possible, to Volcanoes. View
time you go, visit this gallery, where many steps have been recently dug in the clay mounted.
Eye craters and back.
We come to 16 hours. Output
pleasant, with cavers confirmed mais habitués aux verticales, surpris par la richesse concrétionnée.

Work done:

Prime scree entry: big block that hindered the transition to finish his "long career block intruder. It goes up, the bag on the back! It remains to check the stability of the small
blade located above the passage, and at worst to drop.

We will have to tighten the strings of Insurance, located in the former second fixed scale. It is obvious that the big block below has ripped into the void, of about twenty centimeters. It is fantastic to go almost everywhere, with the backpack.

We worked mostly in the Hall of shale, then we pushed a little edge to the foot of the climb to the volcano, by performing some work.

Ascent room Shale: we put the new rope, which used to pass from the bottom of the gallery, until the flap to access the room Shale. It was time, because the old equipment is worthy of the "museum" of the cave. Thank you to him for his loyal service, but it was time! It will now remove the old equipment, with brown rope, it was impossible, because the quick links are rusty (hacksaw?).

Entry to the hall of Shale: Denis and placed an iron Atik U at the last climb to reach the Hall of shale. To climb, the work is perfect, perfectly positioned and functional, with the natural roughness of the cavity. For the descent, we must stick to walls, it slips quite a lot today, and I do not know how it will in a few outings, with the accumulation of clay. I think it will add a new iron for the descent. We see it locally with Denis at the next exit. Between this little climb and the flap (the exit), the beacons are placed pickets, but not yet over.

Tagging room Shale: we removed and then rebuilt a new lighting in the room Shale. It changes a lot! We have also set up a small platform 3 meters long and 40 cm wide, to see the frost of aragonite at the bottom of the room, much to the delight of photographers, and safety of crystals.

Down the hall toward the flap downstream Shale: beautiful work of Denis and Atik, last week. It will shortly be completed, because there have been slips in the ascent (descent is often on the buttocks).

Gallery after the flap up to the room of Sand: we have done nothing in this gallery, except the installation of two U section, the passage of white drapery (Request made by Suzanne). There is no hesitation the next time to add a third on top, because it lacks a course, and we are obliged to continue to cling to concretions, which were white, what we want avoid at all costs.

Hall Sand: we have made steps in the clay, the clay slope downhill. It is now very comfortable. It will do all the markup. Down the hall Sable must develop a tricky and slippery on 2 meters. It took several holding hands (to do with Denis).

Bunch of grapes: we did not time to fix the scope is wide, two weeks ago by Veronique, Alan and Silvia (she is well placed), and we added two U-irons on the ice that can reach the gallery from above, below grapes.

Crossroads "Volcanoes - Zoubida" we will see later development.

Talus clay to the Tea Room: we have made steps in the most clayey slope, located to the Volcanoes. We least feel like skating sometimes "non-artistic"!.

ascent last calcitic glaze toward the salon Th e : I had this glaze immaculate and crossed into sock. I found a rink dangerous despite the rope ... Sad. This was one of my latest beautiful falls in January 2010 (I was not the only one!). We asked four U-irons, it takes 7 total. We must also rebuild the mooring rope at the top of the glaze.

Throughout this journey, I could see the need to redo 90% markup, which is badly placed, badly done, stakes too big, too over, torn etc. ... without forgetting the barrier tape that is in a catastrophic state (it has fulfilled its role and requires a well-deserved retirement). There will be a few days of happiness, to work in these galleries just as beautiful, with a few km from son and pickets to ask.

The whole group, despite the numbers, worked very well, and good atmosphere did not stop to do a very good job. Note, in the Hall of shale, a meal worthy of the heyday of SCMNE: friendliness, humor and sharing. A highlight of caving, as we had not seen in years. A remake!

I did not do all this work, with so many people not trained in protection work. It was a special day at all levels. Our Rotary recruits are really very good, efficient and full of good humor and friendliness. Some members

are offered to give us a hand, at the request according to our requirements or our urgent needs. It is with great pleasure that I say yes. They are all capable of helping us come now to the bottom of Roquebleu. I also proposed an output initiation Trayolle to learn to use all the "utensils" of the cave.

Our Rotary friends propose to organize a trip initiation Ponderach with Castres Rotarians who are interested, for some, by the caving. An exit Pondarach is to program in early 2011. This may give us a good core group, knowing that in Toulouse, there is also requests from people planning to make the cave.

SCMNE Photos - Rotary thank you Jean Pierre
